Duncan Stewart

Duncan’s art could best be described as ‘refreshingly different’, thanks largely to the variety of subject matter and techniques which he uses to give form to his personal response to living in the world. A response which reveals a freedom to risk and play that he believes is a direct result of God’s grace…‘trust God and live life forward’ encapsulates his life’s philosophy.
“To respond to every new second of life with joy is my ambition! Anything can inspire if we choose to really see it, and take the time to relate to the beauty hidden within it. I have the great job of looking for, and meditating on beauty in unexpected places. Places unaffected by my own fears and prejudices. Hence the smaller my fears – my ego, the greater my discoveries in the play room of life and hopefully the more refreshing my work!”
Working mainly in oil on canvas and charcoal on paper, Duncan draws on a solid foundation in graphic design and fine art training, which includes two years at one of Italy’s foremost art schools, Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence. He has had many successful solo exhibitions, been interviewed on various lifestyle programmes and has work hanging in private collections around the world.
Apart from giving art lessons and producing his own work, Duncan takes commissions, from traditional landscapes and portraits to more conceptual work including abstract expression.
